The platform
What is Savant?
Savant is a professionally installed smart home platform made by Savant Systems, Inc. of Hyannis, Massachusetts, which has built home control technology since 2005. It brings lighting, shades, music, video, climate, security and energy into one app.
The app is what Savant is known for. Each room appears as a photo of your own home, and with TrueImage the photo changes as you adjust the lights, so you see the result before you walk in. Savant is sold only through authorized dealers, who design, program and support it. GE Lighting is a Savant company, and Savant's GE Proseo lighting and shades can run inside a full Savant home or on their own. Weighing platforms? Read how to choose the best home automation system.

One system, every room
What a Savant system runs in your home
Savant is at its best running the whole home, but it can start with a few rooms and grow. These are the parts we design most often.
Lighting
Light that follows the sun
Savant's patented Daylight Mode shifts the color temperature of your lights through the day: cooler and brighter at midday, warmer and lower at night. Ascend, Metropolitan, Noon and Echo keypads recall your scenes with one press.
Shades
On the sun's schedule
GE Proseo or Lutron shades that cut glare at noon and close at dusk.
Climate
Comfort in every scene
Thermostats like Honeywell Home T-series join your scenes and alerts.
Entertainment
Music and cinema in every room
Savant Music puts your streaming services in one dashboard, video tiles several streams on one screen, and the theater runs from the same remote.
Security
Cameras, locks, alerts
Schlage Encode locks joined Savant in 2026, ready for any scene.
Energy
Power you can see and control
Savant Power monitors and controls energy circuit by circuit from the breaker panel and works with solar, a generator or Savant Power Storage batteries. Panel work is done with a licensed electrician.
Built on a network that holds up
We review or rebuild it first: wired where it matters, Wi-Fi on every floor.
Network installationDaylight Mode
Watch the room follow the sun
Daylight Mode adjusts the color temperature and level of your lights from morning to night, in step with your body clock. It works best with tunable white fixtures, and any room can opt out or be overridden from a keypad.

Built for New York
Savant in New York buildings
The building shapes a Savant project as much as the rooms do. This is how we plan for the four we see most.

- What we plan for
- Developer-installed systems to integrate or replace, condo board approvals
Brownstone or townhouse
- Where Savant fits
- Whole-home control across every floor, with Savant Power at the panel
- What we plan for
- Cable runs between floors, landmark limits, and a network that reaches every level

Choosing a platform

Is Nex AV an authorized Savant dealer?
Yes. Nex AV is an authorized Savant dealer in New York City, based at 575 8th Ave in Midtown Manhattan. We design, install, program and support Savant systems across the five boroughs and Westchester.
What can a Savant system control?
Lighting, motorized shades, music, video, climate, cameras, door locks and energy, from one app, a Pro Remote X2, touch panels, keypads or voice. Scenes tie them together, so one touch can set the lights, close the shades and start the music.
How much does a Savant smart home cost in NYC?
It depends on the number of rooms and which systems you include. Savant sits at the premium end of the market and scales from a few rooms of lighting and music to a whole home. After a free survey we send an itemized proposal, so you see every line before you commit.
Can Savant be installed in a prewar co-op?
Yes. We plan around plaster walls, limited chase space and board rules at the survey, and we prepare the alteration agreement, certificates of insurance and contractor paperwork boards require. Work is scheduled around permitted hours and elevator access.
Should I choose Savant or Control4?
Choose Savant if the look and feel of the app matters most and you are building or renovating, so products can be chosen for the platform. Choose Control4 if you have a lot of existing equipment to integrate. We install both and recommend the one that fits your home.
What is Savant Daylight Mode?
Daylight Mode is Savant's patented lighting feature that adjusts the color temperature of your lights to follow the sun: cooler and brighter in the middle of the day, warmer and dimmer in the evening. It works best with tunable white fixtures and can be switched off room by room or overridden from a keypad.
Does Savant work with Siri, Josh.ai and Lutron?
Yes. The Savant Pro Remote X2 supports Siri voice control, Josh.ai can run Savant scenes by voice, and Savant integrates with Lutron lighting and shades.
Can you take over an existing Savant system?
Yes. We review the system in person, update it where the hardware supports it, and take over programming and support. That includes systems that came with an apartment or were left without a dealer.
Can Savant provide backup power in New York City?
Savant Power monitors and controls circuits from the breaker panel and pairs with solar, a generator or Savant Power Storage batteries. Battery storage in New York City is tightly regulated, so it suits houses and some townhouses more than apartments. We confirm what your building allows at the survey.
How long does a Savant installation take?
Most projects take one to three weeks depending on scope and building access. Board approvals and building hours can affect the start date, so we set the schedule with you after the survey.
