Smart Home & AV Installation Across New York
Nex AV designs, installs and supports smart home and audio-visual systems from our office at 575 8th Avenue in Midtown, covering New York City, Westchester County and Long Island. Every project starts with an on-site survey, because no two buildings wire the same way.
Where We Work
We cover all five New York City boroughs, plus Westchester County and Long Island. The six below are where most of our work happens, and what changes between them is the wiring, the approvals and the network design.
Prewar walls and co-op boards
Most of our work is in buildings never wired for what people now want to install. Prewar plaster, limited chase space and landmarked facades mean cable routes get planned before equipment is ordered.
Co-op work adds alteration agreements, insurance certificates and freight elevator windows. We handle that paperwork as part of the project.

Brownstones and new glass
Townhouse retrofits in Brooklyn Heights and Park Slope involve multi-floor cable runs, original plaster and landmark restrictions on anything visible from the street.
Converted buildings in Williamsburg and DUMBO wire easily but bring open-plan layouts and floor-to-ceiling glass, which changes speaker placement and shading.

Newer stock, easier runs
Long Island City and Astoria condo buildings often have conduit already in place, which lowers installation cost considerably when it is spotted during the survey.
Single-family homes in Forest Hills give us more freedom on cable routing and better options for outdoor lighting and audio.

Room to run cable properly
Detached homes remove most of the constraints that define city work. No board approval, no freight windows, and enough wall and ceiling space to run structured cabling to every room rather than working around what is already there.
Larger footprints usually mean a proper network backbone, multi-zone audio and outdoor lighting and sound.
- Scarsdale
- Rye
- Bronxville
- White Plains
- Larchmont
Whole-house systems
Suburban homes with the space for dedicated theater rooms, whole-home audio and motorized shading across large window runs.
Waterfront and pool properties add outdoor audio, exterior lighting and weather-rated equipment, plus network coverage that reaches past the walls of the house.
- Great Neck
- Manhasset
- Garden City
- Roslyn
- Port Washington
Second homes and remote control
Larger and seasonal properties where the system needs to work when nobody is there: remote monitoring, climate control, leak and freeze alerts, and lighting schedules that run while the house sits empty.
Outdoor entertainment areas and pool houses usually need their own audio and network coverage.

- Northport
- Smithtown
- The Hamptons

Co-op and Condo Board Approvals
In city buildings, the rules shape the project as much as your requirements do. We routinely prepare all of it.
- Alteration agreement submissions with scope and drawings
- Certificates of insurance naming building, agent and board
- Licensed and insured contractor documentation
- Schedules that fit permitted hours and freight windows
- Noise and dust mitigation plans for cable work
- Coordination with your architect, designer or GC

Frequently Asked Questions
Which areas does Nex AV cover?
We install and support smart home and AV systems across all five New York City boroughs — most often in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens — plus Westchester County and Long Island, covering both Nassau and Suffolk. Our office is in Midtown Manhattan.
Do you charge for a site survey?
Surveys across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Westchester County and Nassau County are free, with no obligation to proceed. For Suffolk County we arrange the survey around scope and travel — contact us and we will confirm before booking.
Can you work in a landmarked or prewar building?
Yes. Prewar plaster, limited chase space and landmark restrictions on visible changes are routine for us. We plan cable routes during the survey and confirm what can be concealed before you commit to anything.
Will you handle our co-op board's alteration agreement?
Yes. We prepare the scope documentation, certificates of insurance and contractor paperwork most NYC boards require, and we schedule work around permitted hours and freight elevator access.
Do you cover New Jersey or Connecticut?
Our coverage is focused on New York. For projects in New Jersey or Connecticut, send us the details and we will tell you whether we can help or refer you to someone who can.
Where is Nex AV based?
575 8th Avenue #1704, New York, NY 10018 — Midtown Manhattan, a short walk from Penn Station.
