Choosing a system

HomeWorks, RadioRA 3 or Caséta?

Lutron makes three main residential systems. The right one depends on the size of the home, how many rooms you want to control and how far you want to take it.

Motorized shades

Shades Made for Westchester Homes

Large window runs, wooded views and Sound Shore light are why people love these homes, and why the light needs managing.

Solar and roller shades

Cut glare and heat while keeping the view, ideal for family rooms, kitchens and sunrooms with large window runs.

  • Fabric openness chosen per room
  • Lower automatically as the sun moves
  • Exposed Palladiom or concealed pockets

Blackout shades

Full darkness for bedrooms, nurseries and media rooms, often layered behind a solar shade on the same window.

Battery shades for retrofits

Triathlon and Serena shades run on batteries, so finished rooms can be motorized without opening walls.

  • No new wiring at the window
  • Same control as wired shades
  • Good for finished older homes
What it does every day

Five Scenes That Run the House

A scene sets lights and shades together with one button, a schedule or your voice. These are the ones Westchester families use most.

MorningShades rise and lights come up gently in the kitchen.
AwayLights follow a lived-in pattern while the house is empty.
SunsetShades lower against the glare and lights warm up.
MovieLights dim, shades close and the room goes dark.
GoodnightEvery light off, blackout shades closed, one press.

Room to Do Lighting Properly

Detached homes remove most of the constraints that define city work. No board approval, no freight windows, and enough wall and ceiling space to wire lighting control and shades the right way.

Central and lower Westchester

Colonials, Tudors and new builds where a whole-house Lutron system replaces banks of switches with clean keypads, and lighting scenes run from the kitchen to the bedrooms. Renovations are the ideal moment to wire HomeWorks or prewire for shades before walls close.

FAQ

Westchester Lutron Questions

Do you install Lutron lighting and shades in Westchester?

Yes. Nex AV designs, installs and programs Lutron lighting control and motorized shades across Westchester County, including Scarsdale, Rye, Bronxville, White Plains, Larchmont, Bedford, Armonk and Chappaqua.

Should I choose HomeWorks, RadioRA 3 or Caséta?

HomeWorks suits new builds, major renovations and large homes where every room and shade is controlled. RadioRA 3 gives whole-home control without opening walls, which makes it a strong choice for finished homes. Caséta covers a few rooms or a first step into smart lighting. We recommend one after seeing the house.

We are renovating. When should we plan the lighting control?

Before the walls close. During a renovation we can prewire keypads, lighting loads and shade pockets so everything sits exactly where it should, which is far easier than retrofitting later.

Can motorized shades be added without rewiring?

Yes. Lutron Triathlon and Serena shades run on batteries, so finished rooms can be motorized without opening walls. They are controlled the same way as wired shades, from keypads, remotes, the app or voice.

Does Lutron work with Control4 and voice control?

Yes. HomeWorks and RadioRA 3 integrate with Control4, so lights and shades sit on the same remote and touchscreen as the rest of the house, and Josh.ai adds natural voice control.

Is the site survey free in Westchester?

Yes. Surveys across Westchester County are free, with no obligation to proceed. We measure windows, check existing switches and wiring, and recommend the right system before sending a proposal.

How long does a Lutron installation take?

Most projects run one to three weeks depending on scope and access. Custom shade fabrics can add lead time, and renovation projects are scheduled around your builder.
